Building Schools for the Future (BSF)

About BSF

BSF is a Government driven, strategic approach to capital investment, ICT integration, FM service delivery and whole life maintenance that will affect every secondary school in England. Over the life of the programme around 3,500 schools will be rebuilt or remodelled to support a student population of 3.3 million 11-19 year olds and their staff. This makes the BSF programme the largest and most ambitious scheme of its type in the world.

£220M Newcastle BSF - AURA Learning Communities

Aura Newcastle Ltd - part of Aura Learning Communities, Robertson Capital Projects' BSF JV with Sir Robert McAlpine and Parsons Brinckerhoff - was appointed by Newcastle City Council in July 2007 to work in partnership with the council to deliver a £220M multi phase BSF programme. Phase 1 comprised seven new PFI funded schools and a major remodelling of an existing school under a target cost design and build contract. Phase 2 will see a further eight schools redeveloped, completing the entire rejuvenation of the secondary schools estate in Newcastle.
